Misty G and Nick Jones once serenaded beautiful humans together back in 2008 all over the Auckland nightlife, now with the added spin of the humans now being conscious and the music being of the ecstatic dance variety - they’ll be returning as a duo for an Ecstatic Embodiment Dance June 10th at KULA in Muriwai.
Misty G has been DJing since 2005 all over Auckland with a preference for playing house music supporting internationals and has been booked for international brands and major festivals, over the past 5 years of being a mother Misty found a passion for being in a safe alcohol & drug free community with the passion of showing people that ‘music can heal you’ and if the music is of a high enough vibration you don’t need to drink or drug to feel high and natural highs have enormous consequence for your evolution and happiness in life.
There’s no comedown, there’s no addiction … although you will want to do it often …
And since 3 years back Misty G has been dancing with her ecstatic dance style and is of late trying to incorporate her love of house with the conscious ethnic sound that so often is used for the ecstatic embodiment dance journeys.
NZ born and based in Auckland, Nick Jones started learning classical violin and piano at the age of 4. Working as a professional musician for the past 20 years and as an itinerant teacher within local schools, Nick performs a range of styles of music. He also plays in various ensembles such as chamber groups, corporate bands, acoustic duos, and as a solo performer. Most recognised for performing with an electric violin and playing instrumental versions of popular songs. Nick is also a sought-after session musician recording violin, piano and keyboard. He frequently arranges and records string parts and improvises over artists’ songs, requiring him to be versatile in different playing styles: folk, country, jazz, and classical.
Nick graduated with post-graduate honours studying jazz performance at the New Zealand School of Music (a conjoint between Massey and Victoria Universities). He specialises in improvisation on the violin and believes developing creativity on an instrument is such a valuable tool for any musician.
