She Is :: A Day Retreat w Charlene & Charlotte

  • Kula Muriwai 505 Oaia Road Muriwai, Auckland, 0881 New Zealand (map)

Talofa lava,

URA TABU Pacific Dance is pleased to share registrations for SHE IS, a one-day, ticketed Māori and Pasifika-led wellbeing retreat taking place on SUNDAY 12 July.

Created for women of all cultures and backgroundsSHE IS is an opportunity to step away from the demands of everyday life and reconnect with yourself through movement, stillness, culture, and community.

At the heart of SHE IS is the healing power of Pasifika movement. Throughout the day, we'll gently explore Siva Samoa, Hawaiian Hula, and 'Ori Tahiti—not as performances to perfect, but as living cultural practices that reconnect us to breath, rhythm, nature, and ourselves.

You don't need to be from these cultures to experience the medicine they hold. Long before movement became exercise, it was ceremony, storytelling, prayer, and healing. When we move with intention, we remember something deeply human: every body has an innate rhythm, and through that rhythm we find our way back to ourselves.

Whether you feel deeply connected to your ancestry, are longing to reconnect with your roots, or are simply curious to experience Indigenous approaches to wellbeing for the first time, you are welcome here. No experience is needed. We will gently guide you throughout the day.

Meet Your Facilitators

🌺 Charlene Tedrow
Founder of URA TABU Pacific Dance, Charlene has spent over two decades creating spaces where movement becomes medicine. Drawing on Pacific dance, yoga, breathwork, and Pasifika knowledge systems, she is passionate about helping women reconnect with the wisdom already held within their bodies.

🌿 Guest Facilitator – Charlotte Manawanui Christie

Charlotte is a proud wahine Māori with Irish, Celtic and Scottich heritage. She is a mother, healer, and founder of Mamatuanuku Women's Wellness + Transformation. For nearly twenty years she has walked alongside women as they reconnect with themselves through movement, body wisdom, and the healing power of nature.

As a survivor of the 2009 Samoa tsunami, Charlotte's own healing journey has profoundly shaped her life's work. Through lived experience, she understands the courage it takes to move through trauma with tenderness, and she now offers that same gentle guidance to other women—creating spaces where healing unfolds safely, naturally, and with deep compassion.

Together, Charlene and Charlotte will weave Pacific movement, Māori wisdom, embodiment, stillness, laughter, and connection into a deeply nourishing day that honours every woman exactly as SHE IS.

Throughout the retreat, you'll enjoy beautiful Pasifika kai, including traditional Koko Samoa—a rich drinking chocolate made from cacao indigenous to Samoa—alongside nourishing meals shared in the spirit of Pacific hospitality.

If your body has been asking you to slow down and put down whats heavy... this day has been created for you.

There are three ways you can support SHE IS:

🌿 Purchase a ticket for yourself and experience a day of restoration.

🌿 Purchase a Gift a Sister ticket and make it possible for another woman to attend who may not otherwise have the opportunity.

🌿 Share this event with someone who would benefit from a day of rest, renewal, and reconnection. Flyer is attached.

Every ticket purchased and every share helps us reach more women who deserve to experience this special day.

If this resonates with you, we'd be grateful if you shared it with the women in your own circles who may also be ready for a day of renewal.

With alofa,
