Turning Tides is an evidence-based, holistic trauma treatment intensive created for people who want to move the needle on recovery, fast. Across two weeks, we combine daily EMDR therapy with supportive movement, nervous-system regulation practices, and psychoeducation so change is felt in the body as well as understood in the mind.
How it works
• Week One (in person at Kula, Muriwai): Two fully catered days in a tranquil setting. You’ll have individual EMDR sessions each day, plus gentle group activities (yoga/mindful movement, nature time, surf, boxing therapy) and evening learning circles on sleep, trauma, and regulation.
• Week Two (online): Two days to consolidate gains, continue EMDR, and apply strategies to your real-world triggers and routines.
What to expect
• Small cohort (max 8) for calm, private pacing .. no sharing trauma stories.
• Option to bring a support person for the onsite days to assist with grounding between sessions.
• Led by experienced trauma clinicians, with wraparound support and clear aftercare.
Who it’s for
Adults experiencing (complex) PTSD/trauma-related symptoms who are ready to engage in focused work. Suitable for ACC Sensitive Claim clients, ACC Psychological Services, First Responders and private pay. Not suitable for acute crisis, recent psychiatric hospitalisation, or unmanaged high dissociation.
Facilitators
Dr Stacey Lim (Clinical Psychologist and Ampara Bouwens (Clinical Psychologist) co-lead the programme, alongside a small, trusted team of proffesionals.
